you’re up next……………..GO !

I’ve been grumpy for most of today, so I tried to distract myself  by making some cupcakes, I mean, if a  cupcake can’t make you feel better then what can ?

I gave up blogging, I’m just rubbish at it.  I can’t write what I want to at the moment, so I’m giving you another picture of home as that is where my thoughts mainly are right now.

I was supposed to post this yesterday but I just never made it with one thing and another.  Anyway, this is a picture of my Dad walking along Montrose beach.  It was taken last year when the kids and I went to visit him back home in Scotland.  He’s just been diagnosed with a serious and life changing illness and I’ve found it very difficult living 500 miles away from home.  More than I could ever have thought.  I’ve always had this idea in the back of my mind that when I moved to London , 13 years ago,  there would be a moment in my life when there would be regret about moving south, and the moment is now.

So one of the things I do when I’m finding things in life difficult is to immerse myself in music and at the moment there is a song that I just love – you can listen to it here.  It’s written by a friend of mine who is also from Scotland and his writing partner and it feels particularly relevant to me at the moment.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

This is what I have spent my entire day doing, making gingerbread men and ladies with 3 and 4 year olds.  I made 68 in total.  I’m also now very sick of gingerbread men and/or ladies….if I never see another one again it will be far too soon.   I brought 2 home for my children, the eldest immediately said “run run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread man” to which the youngest replied “No !  Gingerbread men are not real, they can’t run Mummy, you’re silly.”  That told me.

The eldest is now at school – not sure how it (the last 5 years) happened, it seems like only yesterday that he was born !  It’s official, when you start saying that kinda thing you are certainly getting old (er)…

Well as I’ve been away (from blogging) for a while I thought I should probably post of a photo of the kids as they’ve changed a lot in 18 months.  Here the youngest improvised with some kitchen roll (a drum kit) and some maracas (his sticks).

Well here I am again !  It’s only been 18 months or so since my last post, but you know how it is, life just gets busy and far too much has happened in that time to begin to explain what has been going on so I’ll just get on with it.

I know I’ve  posted previously about my love of gadgets and this one in particular has featured before, but today was a special day for this gadget in particuar.  I bought this about 18 months ago (coincidentally) with the intention of using it as a media player but it never happened.  I tried to set it up once but got bored with it/couldn’t get it to work or whatever so I gave up on it and have just been using it as a digital radio meantime.  But today we got it working, it can now access all my music at last – YAY !  Here it is playing one of my all time favourite  bands.

We booked to take our boys to a “Day Out With Thomas”  months ago and the day finally arrived.  As they are both train obsessed they loved it and the Eldest even spoke to The Fat Controller after being initally starstruck, bless.
